Week 24: Grinding in Aimogasta 10/17/2022

Hola ustedes!! Cómo están!? I hope this email finds you all safe and healthy back home!

This week had to be the craziest week of my mission. From working in a new area with NO influence from the church, training a new missionary, and relying on the spirit so heavily!!

But this week also had to be one of the best! I felt so much help from my Heavenly Father, I felt the gift of tongues working through me, and I have grown spiritually!

This week was focused on getting to know the area, lessons with members, and finding people that are truly interested. Here in Aimogasta, typically everybody will say yes to the missionaries, but they will Ghost us and won't have the second lesson. I honestly would just rather have people straight up tell me no and to never come back again haha! But, the Lord recognized our efforts we put in and blessed us.

The new people we have been teaching all are really solid people!! I want to share an experience I had with one. Her name is Luciana and if I had to guess she is probably in her 70's. We found her on the street, shared with her a message about the plan of salvation and then gave her a pamphlet to read. We set a return appointment with her, so a few days later we stopped by her house! She was standing outside and said that she was waiting for us, and was very excited to talk! We started to talk about how the pamphlet was, and she just went to tears. She told us how her son died and reading the pamphlet gave her so much comfort. She told us how she knows how her son is in paradise right now! The lesson was very powerful with her! We explained how her son is learning so much right now, and he is very happy and excited to see you again someday!

Lessons like that, are things I will never forget. I have grown a deep love for these people here, I know they need me but more importantly I need them!!

We had to postpone a baptism because yesterday was mother's day, this Sunday is stake conference, and next Sunday will be the baptism! His name is Lucas Peñaloza and he has been talking to the missionaries ever since he was 12 years old! He is 17 now and is ready to make covenants with God so please pray for him!!!

Oh ya I almost forgot this story! A few days ago we were walking to visit a person the Elders have been teaching in the past, when 3 constructions workers said, "ELDERES!!!" We went over to talk with them while on was smoking, and had a bag of cocaine haha so yall already know this was pretty fun talking to them haha! We taught them about the word of wisdom, and explained what we did as missionaries. One of them said he wanted us to come over to his house for lunch for mother's day! So yesterday we went to his house and there had to be 12 or 15 people there! We ate cow head. COW HEAD!!! The way they cooked it (which I have seen off of meat eater, was underground) they buried it and covered it with hot coals. It takes about 4 hours for it to be ready! Honestly I thought it was really good! (I'll throw some pictures of it on this email) after we ate, we shared with them the message of the first vision. Wow, the spirit was strong and I could see it touch the hearts of this family. We gave them a copy of the book of mormon and invited them to read in the introduction, and to pray. SO DO ME A FAVOR AND PRAY FOR THEM TOO!!

Well I love yall! I hope you all are killing some elk and deer for me right now, trust me I know whats going on hahah! Have a wonderful week!!

Les amo!!
