Week 89: Baptism Week 1/29/2024

Howdy everybody? How are things going back home? It is extremely hot down here in Argentina right now🥵 But its good because it keeps me skinny!

Well this week was really good! Staying busy everyday and trying my best to work as much as I can in my area! We were able to see some miracles through that! Finding more quality people that are a part of the "white harvest"😁

Church on Sunday was really great! We had the baptism of our friend Noemi Villarroel! She truly is an incredible lady with a strong testimony of the restoration. The book of mormon literally changed her life, as she came from a background of very strong evangelical beliefs. She knows that the church of Jesus Christ has been restored!

The service was great! A few of our friends stayed to watch it! The spirit of the Lord was there with us, now we just need to focus very hard on those who came! They are ready to accept it!

The mission has been doing incredible things! The Elders and Sisters that we have a incredible disciples of Christ and are willing to work! I truly love them all!

This next week is gonna be crazy! Full of Zone conferences and presentations (I am making one as I write this) But I know that the Lord will bless the area, He knows we are trying! The glory is for God and always will be that way!

Anyways thanks for reading my email! Have a wonderful week!

Love, Élder Weese

Week 88: Busy, busy, BUSY!! 1/22/2024

Howdy everybody! How y'all doing? Im hoping things are going well back home for ya and that y'all are stayin safe and healthy!

Well these past couple of days have been super busy here! Getting a total of 7 hours of sleep in 3 days has been great haha, but I really am enjoying where I am! My love for the Zannis, the missionaries, and the gospel has just exploded these past few days! Also my companion is Elder Davies and he is from a little town just outside of Dallas Texas. The kid is a beast! I absolutely love him!

Well we've been really busy so I’ve only been in the area once. But that one time was great! I took an Elder on exchange who is one of the best that this mission has. We both went in with zero knowledge of the area because it was my first day and his as well haha! But I wanna tell ya that the counsel that Alma gave to his son Helaman is true. "Counsel with the Lord in all thy doings, and he will direct thee for good.." So we both went in with a lot of faith, knowing that God would be with us and we said many prayers to recieve His guidance. We knocked well over 200 doors and talked to every person in sight. The majority of the doors were slammed in our faces, a guy told us he didnt believe in Christ because "Christ is a religion", many things. We then were walking up this street and saw this lady working at a verdulería which is a place where you buy your vegetables here. Her name is Susan and she is from Bolivia. We had a quick contact with her and then a couple days later we called her and had a great lesson. She moved to Argentina to find a better life for her and her 11 year old son Alex, and everybody else couldnt make it here from her family. She has a really strong desire to do what is right in the eyes of God and told us how she knows that God has been and always will be there. We invited her to put her trust in God and be baptized on February 4 with her son Alex, she happily accepted it!

Church on Sunday was great! I got to meet the members and 6 of the friends that they have been teaching before I got here! Im serving in an area called Chacabuco which is about a kilometer south of the mission home. It is a ward with us Elders, and a set of Sister missionaries! On sunday after the church service, the sister missionaries had a baptism that we stayed for because our friends wanted to see it. It was a really cool experience that made me feel the spirit very strong as I watched the sister missionaries friend "Alejandrita" be baptized. Our friends really enjoyed it so we want to go with that momentum this week to help them do the same thing.

Anyways many things happened! Some that I just cant even describe and some that I dont want to put in this email because my mom is in it and I don't want to get in trouble😊 haha but I really do love yall! Hoorah for Israel!

Love, Elder Weese

Dear Parents and Leaders of Thomas Jacob Weese,

We are are the mission leaders of the Argentina Córdoba Mission. We would like to inform you that Elder Thomas Weese has received the assignment ofAssistant to President since 19 Jan 2024. We know that this experience will be of great worth to him during his mission in preparation to serve in callings within the Church once he finishes his mission and continues his life serving as a disciple of Jesus Christ.

Elder Weese has already performed his assignment exceptionally well and has served the Lord with all his heart while being Assistant to President.

We are very grateful to have your son serving as a leader in our mission. We have seen his dedication and love for his fellow missionaries and the people of Argentina.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Week 87: Traslados! 1/15/2024

Howdy everybody! How are things going? I hope life back home is staying interesting!

Well we received transfer news! Lemme tell ya, it wasn't a call that I was expecting but I feel very blessed and humbled about it. On Tuesday afternoon, I gotta phone call from President Zanni and he asked me if I would accept the call to be his AP. Like I said, I wasn't expecting that at all! But I feel very grateful for the opportunity that I have to finish my mission at his side!

With that being said, I had to say goodbye to all of the people of San Jorge. It was a blessing to be a part of the work in that town! San Jorge was definitely the highlight of my mission!

I love you all and appreciate the support that you give me everyday! Sorry that this email is short, but I gotta go! Have a great week!

Love, Elder Weese

Week 86: The Work Continues in San Jorge 1/8/2024

Howdy everybody! How are ya? Hope everything is going well back home! Lemme tell ya it is getting hot down here in Argentina! 🥵

The week was great! We've started to teach some more family of one of the girls we recently baptized and yesterday they gave us an Asado!

A lot of are friends will be going in this week and next week to get everything taken care of to get married so they can be baptized!

We need one more priesthood holder to be able to become a branch so we are very very close! We are still having a hard time finding a place to rent for church on Sundays, but we are close!

Anyways this is my last email of this transfer so next time you'll be hearing from me, a lot of changes would have happened!

Love you all! And hope you have a great week!

Love Élder Weese

Week 85: ¡Feliz Año Nuevo!🥳 1/1/2024

Howdy everybody!! Happy New Year! How are yall doing!? Hopefully yall have some good goals that you want to accomplish this year!!

Well the new year has had me reflect on many things. Things that I have been able to accomplish, and things that I want to do better this year! It's important to keep ourselves humble enough to keep seeking improvement, but not to do so much to tear ourselves down. God gives us, "line upon line, precept upon precept" and by "small and simple things, the Lord can do great things" I invite yall to seek improvement this year, and do the best that YOU can! As our prophet has said, "The Lord loves effort!" I know that the Lord will magnify your efforts!

I have also reflected on the fact that I was not home at all for the year 2023 haha! In the mission we call it a "black out year", and I just finished mine! I will be home in 3 months, wild!

Well the week was great! Full of hard work, long days but lots of miracles!! We have found many places that have great potential for church meetings, we are just waiting for approval for some of the places! The work is moving forward here in San Jorge, and it is moving forward quickly!

I want you all to know that I love you dearly! Maybe I don't email yall personally all that much, but I sure do love ya! I know that Christ lives! I know that Joseph Smith was and is the prophet of the restoration and thanks to him, the FULLNESS of the everlasting gospel has been restored. Isn't that incredible? I invite you to start the year off with that thought, and to act because of that knowledge😊 let me know if you need anything!

Love, Élder Weese

P.S The house that has the number 666, ya we knocked it haha and they are atheists. Makes sense!
